Unsubscribing from an email list should not be difficult, but some lists don’t want people to leave. A joke was posted on Twitter by Brad Frost on October 14, 2016:
     
“You unsubscribed from our email list. Our unsubscribe donkey, Pepe, will begin his journey; your request should be processed in 4-6 weeks.”
     
The “unsubscribe” joke has been printed on many images. “It’s become clear that Pepe the Unsubscribe Donkey will be my legacy. I’m alright with that” was posted on Twitter by Brad Frost on August 27, 2019.
 
The donkey’s name was changed from “Pepe” to “Kevin” by at least this meme posted on Facebook by Pam Wilson on February 26, 2022.
