“An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a bar. Those were the days” (bar joke)

“A guy walks into a bar…” is a typical form of what has been called the “bar joke.” However, during the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, most bars were closed. The joke was:

“An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a bar. Those were the days.”

“An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a bar….. Those were the days #pubs” was posted on Twitter by West Suffolk CAMRA on April 4, 2020. “An Irishman, An Englishman and A Scotsman walk into a bar…. Ah those were the days” was posted on Twitter by Philip Bagley later on April 4, 2020.

“An Englishman, a Scotsman and an Irishman walk into a bar…” is the original joke.

“A man doesn’t walk into a bar…,” “A man doesn’t walk into a pub…,” “A man walks into a bar, lucky bastard” and “An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman don’t walk into a bar” are related jokes.
